The issue is, the Lunars have evolved electromagnetic abilities that allow them to manipulate others’ thoughts and actions, meaning an alliance with them is in reality submitting to slavery. Cinder is a cyborg with a robotic foot, among other cybernetic body parts. This is definitely the most unique version of Cinderella I’ve ever seen. Just know going in, this is not your average Cinderella story.
I can assure you Cinder’s immediate problems are resolved fairly quickly in the next book, so you can at least not worry overly much about that. It ends on something of a cliff-hanger, but fear not, there are more books for the situation to be fixed in. How are they going to pivot so I get my happy ending?” Eventually, it began to dawn on me – I was not going to get my happy ending. She has a mean step-mother and step-sisters, she does all the work, but at the end of the day she loses a shoe and gets the handsome prince so it’s all good.
I figured, this is a Cinderella story, and I know the formula for Cinderella stories. You know what they say about assuming, though, so that’s on me. I knew there were other books by the same author with fairytale-esque covers all in a similar style, I just kind of assumed they were in the same style but not connected.
